Every Tuesday morning our wonderful coordinator Andrea Conquergood hosts community elders at Fireweed Hub. These gatherings vary between strictly social events (often featuring birthday cake!) and, on alternate weeks, programming of some sort. Free baked snacks, coffee and tea are always part of the mix. So far the programming has included fitness sessions, informational sessions about internet scams and locally available health-related supports, and a documentary film showing. There’s lots more in the pipeline!

Fireweed Hub is offering these events in collaboration with the WE Graham Community Services Society thanks to funding from the federal New Horizons for Seniors program. The folks who attend are a vibrant and friendly bunch. There are lots of ‘regulars’ but almost every week someone new shows up and is welcomed and included.
