Miranda joined the board of the Silverton Cowork Society at the end of 2020. She was drawn by the dream of creating a shared space that would help lower environmental footprints and support innovative work arrangements that could allow more people to make a living in our amazing area. An Ontario native, Miranda moved to New Denver in 1994; she and her husband Dr. Charles Burkholder raised their four children here. She has worked in the past as a family doctor and Suzuki violin teacher. These days she freelances as a violinist and violist, performing regularly with the Symphony of the Kootenays. She is also active with the North Slocan Trails Society and the Valhalla Fine Arts Society. She spends her free time bicycling, making music, spinning and knitting, gardening, and tweaking the inner workings of websites. Miranda has been the Society’s main IT person, and has been the manager of the temporary Fireweed Hub cowork space since it moved to New Denver, where she also acts as Chief-Evictor-of-Stinkbugs. You may spot her around town on her e-bike in all weather.
