Our our multi-purpose “flex space” at the front of Fireweed Hub is right in the heart of New Denver looking out on Main Street. It is beautifully suited to meetings and small gatherings of up to 18-24 participants, with small square tables and comfortable chairs that can be moved around to create a variety of configurations from board-room tables to lecture theatre seating facing a projection wall.

A permanently mounted projector can display streamed content or presentations from any laptop or similar device. A soundbar can stream your Spotify playlist as background music if you’d like.

Our fast reliable internet service often exceeds download speeds of 250 mbps, and our media equipment is well-suited to online video conferencing. The Meeting Owl® is also available to assist with hybrid meetings.

Our flex space has been used for private parties, non-profit and governmental meetings, public engagement sessions, as an ad hoc wildfire-response centre for the community, for music practices, client meetings, club get-togethers, fun-oriented educational events, professional development courses and movie showings. It is adaptable, clean and charming.

Refreshments & meals

The flex space used for meetings is separate from the adjacent kitchen, and the kitchen is normally locked. If you wish to have food or beverages at your event, you have four options:

  • Coffee cart only: If you only want to provide some beverages and light snacks, this is your easiest option. Bring a picnic for your event, including any napkins or dishes you need, clean it up afterwards and take all your supplies home. You’ll have access to a small rolling cabinet which contains a coffee-maker, kettle, a few mugs, coffee filters and a small microwave oven. No kitchen access is provided, so make sure you plan for a simple cleanup process. Rate: $0 (free/included)
  • Dishware service: If you want to serve something more substantial and potentially messier, you can use our plates, utensils and serving dishes. Upon sorting out what exactly you need, or manager will arrange to equip a cart for you, filled with the wares you have requested. At the conclusion of your event, this cart will be your “bus cart” where you leave your dishes. No kitchen access is provided, and no orientation or training is required of you. Our staff will look after washing and sanitizing the dishware later. Rate: from $30 depending on party size / needs
  • Light kitchen use: If you need to refrigerate, warm up and plate out the food intend to serve, you can opt to arrange for light kitchen use. A brief orientation session will be required and you will be responsible for all cleanup afterwards. You can make use of the dishwasher, refrigerator, sinks, stainless prep surface, dishes and utensils as well as the conventional oven. Rate: $30 per meeting ($25 if orientation has been done previously).
  • Regular kitchen rental: If you wish to prepare a meal or substantial refreshments at Fireweed Hub, or if you intend to hire a caterer to prepare food for your group, you will need to rent the kitchen. A full orientation session will be required, and depending on your needs this can include specific guidance on using specialized equipment like the espresso machine, the computerized Combi-Oven, and so on. You will be responsible for all cleanup afterwards. Rate: $15/hr when booked in conjunction with a meeting.

Note that Fireweed Hub is not in the food service business. We do not have chefs or caterers on staff to provide food for you, although we may be able to help connect you with caterers in the area if you wish to hire someone.

How to book

Please use our Booking Request Form for your initial inquiry as it simplifies the communication, both for you and our manager. Please email our Manager to request to book the space.

We prioritize the scheduling of meetings and other non-food events during the afternoons and evenings of Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as well as Monday and Wednesday mornings. Other times are often available, but less reliably so; therefore we encourage you to choose early-in-the-week time slots.

You can normally secure a booking up to one month in advance.

If you have a crucial booking or series of bookings you need to confirm far in advance, you can sign a Priority Booking Agreement and, upon it being ratified by the Board, pay a deposit in advance to secure the space.
