food hub & Community workspace in New Denver, BC, Canada

Site preparation underway

While awaiting final approval for our building permit, the construction team led by general contractor Laurie Hicks has been delving into some preparation of the site. The lovely heritage building on Main Street has served as a restaurant in the past but the kitchen addition in the back succumbed to a fire in 2017. The new plans for the Fireweed Hub will see a commercial community kitchen incorporated within the main rectangle of the space, adjacent to a flexible seating and workspace at the front. The rear third of the building will have its floor brought down to the same level as the front area, and the crawl space and supporting structures will have extensive work done to facilitate that change. So preparatory work is currently focused on the crawl space and back wall.
