What is coworking?
Coworking is the practice of sharing access to a workspace with others so that you can enjoy the advantages of a well-appointed workspace without having to incur the costs all on your own. It is especially well-suited to part-time and itinerant workers, or those who mostly work from home.
What is a hot desk?
A hot desk is a desk or similar workspace equipped with internet access which is available for temporary use by various people according to their needs.
Can I rent a permanent desk?
Due to limited space in our current location we are not able to offer permanent desks. However, we do have some lockable storage which is available to monthly users for a small additional fee. This is the next-best-thing to a permanent desk, as it allows you to leave devices, files and other equipment on site and access it quickly and easily each time you return.
When can I use the space?
With pre-booking, access is available 365 days a year from 6 am to midnight, and outside these hours by special arrangement.
Can I hold a meeting?
Yes! Fireweed fills a niche in the community for small meetings, with the inner room being easily adapted for meetings of 2-8 people. This room is equipped with a table to gather around, flexible seating and space for snacks and coffee. We rent out our meeting room in blocks of 2-8 hours, priced accordingly and affordably.
Does my group need insurance?
We do not require groups to carry their own insurance.
Can I bring a friend?
Your day pass or monthly pass covers your use only. Monthly users can just pay for a day pass for their guest. Day users could either buy two day passes or book the meeting room for a specified time.
Can I bring my kids to work?
Fireweed is not intended to accommodate children. However, if you discover that you are the only user in the space and/or if a family emergency transpires, this policy is flexible for short durations.
How do I book space?
The first step is to register for a free booking account. Once you confirm your email address you can then go to the schedule and sign up for the days and times you want to use the space. (You can edit or delete these at any point.) Then you will be issued a unique PIN code which will allow you secure access to the Fireweed Hub.
How do I access the space?
Once you have booked your time(s) you will be issued the exterior lockbox combination and a unique PIN code for the interior smartlock. Detailed directions can be found here. Please note that for added security the smartlock maintains an audit trail of all access.

We will invoice you for payment via Square® invoicing. You can then pay by cash, cheque, KSCU direct account transfer, Interac® eTransfer, debit card or credit card. Online booking difficulties?

If it isn’t working for you or if it doesn’t feel convenient to do things that way, no problem. Instead just email Miranda at info@fireweedhub.ca and we’ll do things the semi-old-fashioned way.
